  1. PM navarae he may have some daffidol for sale I am hoping to get some off him in the future as well I have some jullies for sale if you wanted some of them too.
  2. You could quite easily do those 2 in a 300L tank, but you could also quite easily stick them in your other tank
  3. It is just a problem with most imported dwarf gouramis, the honeys seem ok but just the neon blues and others like that seem to just die off, dropsy or abscesses etc noone really knows why I think it is just mass produced inbred fish not being immune to different bugs or something like that?
  4. Cool fish And happy birthday! Is the new 4fter up and running yet?
  5. There is a similar thread here http://fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/viewtop ... f=4&t=1467 When i did a google search I found that levamisole is very effective at treating clown load skinny disease.. http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/p ... ?news=1170 And levamisole is pretty much the easiest drug for worming fish you can get
  6. Might be a nice tank for a colony of tropheus?
  7. That looks very cool Sandy good work
  8. People do have the GBA long finned ones and are trying to breed them..
  9. I have repaired heaps of tanks with cracks on the bottom and most have bitten me in the bum it doesn't really bother me too much as they are slow leaks so the fish are unharmed and in a fishroom so a little water doesn't matter. I would treat them differently if they were inside my house.. As others have said above it depends where the crack is and if it has any potential of carrying on. If it is just cracked across a corner you may get away with siliconing it up and then sticking it somewhere warm overnight and then using it tomorrow, any chance you can take a pic of the crack so more educated advice can be given?
  10. I have always vacuumed as well It can be quite hard on your vacuum cleaner though as the concrete is quite abrasive, I have an old fishroom vac that I use so I don't ruin the good one..
  11. There was a post on here years ago about someone who got TB from fish and was really really sick for a long time.. I was also talking to the manager of a petshop and he showed me where it had been cut from his hand in several places and at the time had another staff member off getting some removed..
  12. You can easily scoop the siphon hose into the water a few times getting some water into it if you get enough in there it starts the siphon, I have seen some people who are really good at it, I just tend to splash water everywhere so just suck on it..
  13. lol just having a dig mate you know me I do agree though it is very hard to recommend anything with just "little red dots" so unsure what this vet is after, maybe he found some info in some old text book out the back?
  14. lol and when was the first time that Phoenix ever gave any descent advice on treating a fish. Ahh never lol
  15. Red spots on body is a bit vague.. Could be a fluke type tying where there are red spots everywhere the fluke has attached or has been attached in the past? Or maybe some sort of massive bacterial infection but that is unlikely as that would normally be localized. Maybe something like this http://www.fishyfarmacy.com/articles/aeromonas.html Protective gear for maintaining a tank? Maybe just gloves or something like that if you are dealing with meds, cover all wounds so you don't get tuberculosis and also sturdy footwear (glass lid + foot = big scar and loss of feeling down one side of my foot and toe..). Hope this helps
  16. Awesome news Hans, let me know when you want to sell some
  17. If it is just filter media you should be able to replace it with some filter wool (or cushion stuffing if your really cheap) or cut another larger filter pad to size...
  18. If you have already purchased it then you can place a link to the auction up here if you want to talk about it..
  19. You mean it LOOKS like an electric blue fryeri female there is absolutely no way of telling if it is or not without DNA testing, it could well be a throw back from a cross or some entirely different species we don't seen very often that is what everyone is trying to say on this thread..

    severums

There is alot more room for more severums in there, from my limited knowledge of them I have seen gold, green, red shoulder and red spotted severums in NZ so far..
  21. It is hard to say what the fish are really, even if hybrids they may have thrown back to what created them all I can say is the top 1 resembles a fryeri female the other 2 I don't really know
  22. ryanjury

    severums

Is that a 900Litre tank or a 900mm long tank?
  23. Awesome from what I can tell upsidedown it is looking promising.. Phoenix it may take a number of years for your cockatoos to grow up to be old enough to breed and I have heard it works best with haps, electra, empresses etc..
  24. Yeah I did mean to say in my post they were guesses.. Buying random cichlids in a bulk lot and trying to id them later generally doesn't work so well..
  25. Top one possible fryeri female. Middle one possible mbuna hybrid. Bottom one, needs a better pic, but looks alot like the Asti x blue dolphins that were (and probably still are) being passed around in Christchurch as astatotilapia calliptera. As with everything where did they come from and what did you buy them as?
