  1. There is something similar on the plantgeek site and others.
  2. I just line the box with a shopping bag to protect the wood from the moist media.
  3. I keep mine in wooden containers as I find they do best in them. I use spent potting mix as a media, feed them on luncheon and they need to be kept cool. There are a number of ways people propagate them successfully so you will need to try a few and see what works best for you. The main killer is heat.
  4. The colour of many fish will fade overnight while the lights are out but will return when the lights come on again.
  5. I make up a paste with salt and use that. Can be all washed away when finished and no toxicity problems
  6. The biggest mistake people make is using too much RTV so it ends up looking ugly as. If you glue the tank together properly it should not leak and the fillet on the inside just makes it easier to clean.
  7. If you know the person that the fish are coming from and they are fastidious you could count that as a quarantine period. Clowns are good at coming up with whitespot but that could happen just with a change of conditions.
  8. They have been twiddling for a while now. The accountants will work it out in the end.
  9. Unfortunatly the top minds in the world have not found the answer other than sending it to someone else's country.
  10. Perhaps we could make a pile of money by disposing of others nuclear waste. There are some pretty big holes in the ground down here already dug.
  11. P44 you think a meltdown will not damage the core?
  12. 5 nuclear power stations have problems. I wonder if it will reduce the enthusiasm for using nuclear power in NZ
  13. I agree with LA. I think they know more about it than we do.
  14. You need to make sure that they do not have a belly full of food when you decrease the temperature or it will just rot. I left mine with no food for a few days before decreasing the temperature. They had already stopped eating for a few days.
  15. There is only one dial on mine. Place in water of a known temperature for about 10 minutes until it reaches the same temperature as the water, lift button on top and turn dial until it reads the same as water temperature, push down button and turn dial to required tempeature then read instructions.
  16. Yes. If all else fails read the instructions.
  17. I agree with above. Better to be sure than sorry. Easier to do properly when empty.
  18. Wagtail sword and platy, micky mouse platy, red tailed tuxedo guppy.
  19. As well as getting new fish added to the approved list it would be rather nice if some of the fish on the approved list which are not imported, actually were brought in by an importer. Perhaps in the meantime Reef might like to do that.
  20. Mine have been brumating for a few weeks.
  21. Welcome and enjoy your time here.
  22. There are a number and that is why common names are so confusing sometimes.
  23. Echinodorus uraguayensis (I think we need to be sure what red pine actually is before we get carried away with it).
