had another look at some pics of both and see the difference, the one I pointed out got more red on the base. Some of the pics aren't very clear and if you look up hornwort on wiki it looks more like a moss. and reads further The name Hornwort also refers to aquatic plants of the genus Ceratophyllum, in the family Ceratophyllaceae.

what a rip off grows heaps in the lakes here (Arapuni, Karapiro), is a real pest, although great to take nutrients out of your fish tank Probably: Myriophyllum spicatum

Uhm Hope that doesn't mean something, almost to good to be true -
if you dig in manure it is covered with soil and therefore the bugs (bacteria, fungus, invertabrae and insects) will take care of it, if the cage/aviary is dirty/piled up it can be a health hazard, spreading of disease, fungus/spores which you can breath in and will increase disease pressure for the surrounding environment
