Does anyone use the weipro skimmers available from petplanet, I can't seem to find a review on them.

    Bugs

Will do, I think I will keep a log of my success and failures with this along side my log of success and failures for growing coralline algae. Finally got a patch growing about the size of a 50 cent.

    Bugs

How do people that have a mandarin fish provide the nutrients normally provided by the creatures it would have eaten in the wild that lived in the sand, or are they merely giving prepared foods.

    Bugs

I already have it eating prepared food, and I am not expecting it to live on bugs alone, but it filters sand for a reason, and I want to try and provide a better environment for it almost exactly as it would have in the wild (with the obvious not needing to be stated). I am not expecting the tank to go fully self sufficient but to have merely sufficiently enough of itself to aid the life of the fish.

    Bugs

I have some in my tank, but have a sand filter fish phalaena goby and would like to have the sand full of food. What I want to get is the tank as nearly self sufficient except for my puffers, and would like to get the bugs that live in the beach/Ocean

    Bugs

What is the most effective/efficient way of getting the bugs that live in sand out of the sand and into my tank. I would like them as a natural food source for my fish and also I am assuming that they have some benefits to being in the sand as opposed to sand itself. Can this be done, should this be done?

    Seio Pumps

well my seios appear to be working properly maybe they did need to be "worn in" Havent' had the rattle for ages and have checked it regulary to make sure they weren't rattling because they weren't going. All in all I am pretty happy with my purchase.

    Seio Pumps

Could you also keep the people who bought them off you up to date as to your progress, as I have 2 from you and have started to notice the rattle. It doesn't effect much, due to the fact it goes away but is very annoying and the fish obviously don't appreciate the noise.
  17. They sell dead ones at seamart in Auckland
  18. What about taking full grown mangroves and putting them in a sump/refugium would that be what would be needed to get them going as a natural filter
  19. Hello All, I came across this article today about mangroves as an efficient means to remove nitrates but they go as far as to say they . Here is the article http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/nitratecontrol/a/aa051398.htm Am very keen to hear others opinions
  20. Sadly the little ones met with mister intake on my filter and well... enough said. I was just about to put them in a seperate area when I had to drop everything for a work matter
  21. My ghost/glass shrimp that I found in the rock pools have finally released her clutch and the fry are swimming around. Question is what do I feed them?. Has anyone else bred these.

    Coralline Algae

Wasp, This is the first time I am trying to grow coralline algae so this isn't a case of I can't I just never have, mainly due to the fact I thought that only the people who have corals in there tank could have the coralline algae

    Coralline Algae

I didn't realise I could get it from a rockpool I thought it was something only warmer waters had, I will try the rockpools but other than that my tank has been going for around 3 years now, I have puffers so I am somewhat limited in my choices of cohabitants. but after seeing your guys tanks with the algae I decided I wanted a bit of colour. Thanks for the help
