They also have a jellyfish exhibit at the San Francisco aquarium down by pier 29(I think that was the number) pretty boring aquarium all round but seeing the jellies and the skate eggs as they develop was very cool. They also let the children pet the dogfish which I thought was very uncool as they in my opinion should be left alone. Why does the melbourne aquarium rate poorly for you guys is it better or worse than the sydney aquarium which costs an arm and a leg to just get in the door.

There was a doco on Monterey last night on NatGeo at about 10:30pm title oceans in glass or something to that degree, it was excellent. It talked about the different tanks the jellyfish research and also the great white shark they managed to keep in captivity for 198 days (the previous record was 16 days).Also shows a bit of there equipment If this is the same one I highly recommend it.

What do the people on the forum with pvc piping use to clean there pipes, do you have to clean the pipes. I have seen that the montery bay aquarium uses foam objects called pigs to clean there pipework and was wondering if you could use a similar principle to clean the pvc piping.

So now begins the finding of materials anyone know where in Auckland I could get either the acrylic to build it myself or someone capable enough to build it for me. 0pius

Update: Thanks to Reef I now have some lovely rock with the corralline algae on it to help kick start this little expedition.

Cheers for the reply suphew. What I am trying to do is attach a sump to a tank that can't be drilled due to it being currently used but needs a sump type system, do you have any ideas.

Does anyone know if these could be used as an overflow for a sump, I just seen a picture of one and got an idea but would like to know if I am having pipe dreams of using it for an overflow for a sump. Will it drain the tank or does the water stop at the two intakes

agreed, but it is possible with another pump though, to send it straight back to the display

Is the ap series the external version of the deltec range, if so can you have the skimmer pump the water straight back into the tank or does it have to go in a sump
