    tropheus eggs

Hmmm.....Thats weird, must have to do with temperature perhaps cause mine have been wrigglers/half swimmers at that age as their stomach/egg sack is to big for them to swim properly. Sorry I didnt pick up on the earlier thread I do remember it now
  4. Hey Ryan great looking pictures mate. I like the everybody picture :bounce: .............but I dont see any Tropheus

As Ryan has said they probably wont be free swimming but close. Tropheus can hold for like 6wks also, I have stripped at 7 and 10 days old and they needed another weekish to free swimming I think. As Ryan also said you need to have some air bubbles/movement in whatever you put them in after stripping. Is it her first holding?
  6. Hey dude sorry to hear that hope she will hold full term once she gets a bit bigger
  7. I wouldn't suggest brine shrimp as it has very little value in terms of health... lots of FAT ! You can feed mysis from time to time.... twice a week or so.
  8. If it's her first go then I would let her stay in the tank at least for 3wks and see how she is then because she will still feed with a mouthful. If you have a few little rocks or coral rock in the tank eventually she may want to spit in the tank or you may want to strip up to you really they can hold for like 5-6wks if they want to.
  9. Hey nice pick let us know what red sp. they turn into :bounce: What size are they at the moment?
  10. You gotta love the LFS dont ya  So what sp. did you end up getting? Hope all goes well for you :bounce: Dont forget pictures
  11. Along with the tropheus corner which is excellant there is this site too. http://www.cichlidae.info/binder.php?menu=sec&id=tb
  12. I think rcon021 has a colony or 2 of moorii he could tell you how he has kept his. I just kept mine as I kept any of my Africans, food wise I give them spiralina flake either from sera or tetra with jbl nova rift sticks for algae grazers and sera granugreen. During the week I only get to feed them at night so I give them a couple small feedings and during the weekend I try to feed them as often as I can with really small amounts. I keep duboisi and 3 black sp. of tropheus and have found that the duboisi were harder to keep alive from 3-4cm to sub adults/adults which is roughly a year which has slimed down from 8 young to just 3 with my other adults. Things to look out for: Well its pretty hard with the little guys as soon as they dont come out to eat or even if you can see them around but still dont eat...they probably have bloat if you can get your hands on some metro? I think? I see your on cichlid forum so they have stickys for bloat in the tropheus section I believe. Hopefully my jibba jabba will help you out
  13. Like freakyfish said the Tropheus Double star should be Bulu Points...but I do say should be if you were inclined to get some I would want a photo first or a no obligation to buy if they are not all the same. http://cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1913 The Tropheus Firefox should be Tropheus Moliro.....Hopefully they would all be the same sp. too. http://cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1910
  14. A piece of dry spaghetti too
  15. In my tanks anubias do well and some java has lasted and some hasnt :-? I have another plant as well but do not know what it is but it does really well and has runners with big wide leaves. All these plants are with E. Yellows, duboisi & johanni.
  16. I was thinking the same as hff and ff. I thought that kenyi didnt have that many vert. bars? So do you have kenyi and some blue zebras in their?
  17. I think sometimes Wonderworld has Firefox. I had these ones.
  18. Double star should be Bulu points Firefox can be moliro sp.
  19. If you are worried about her eating them I would separate her/or put her back in the main tank. Hopefully the fry wont go back to mum's mouth when you do this
  20. As been mentioned above the scientific name for them is Melanochromis joanjohnsonae. But one of their common names I believe is Exasperatus or Rainbow Melanochromis.
  21. Is it this one :-? http://www.malawimayhem.com/profile_show.php?id=279
  22. Hey Alex there was a few posts on the topic somewhere here but cant remember if it was a frontosa topic or not. I have had one of those bubble tubes with all the holes in my tank for quite sometime but I have had played with the amount of air going through it so its not alot, but I also only have one frontosa  I think maybe it was something to do with iritating their gills :-?
  23. Hey, I just used tap water when I had a community tank but now I buffer it with some baking soda to get the ph up a bit more cause I keep Africans.
  24. Kind of Ryan  I have 1 definate bulu point and 1 bemba but there is also another one that I have that looks like an ikola but I have been told on a tropheus site that it is a bemba too. I got them all from one shop and all were named double star tropheus which are bulu point. They are also currently for sale if anyone wants one.
  25. Oops  So sorry Caryl your comments have been duly noted no more dirty pix from me:wink:
