evilknieval69
I thought i would start this thread so people can tell others what kinds of foods they make themselves, for their fish. If you could include ingrediants, amounts, method etc. that would be awesome. A good one would be beef heart mixtures (you can tell what i want ) Rogan
sharn
what exactly are you using it for? all the fish have different requirements and it depends how scientific you want to be on your recipies as to what you put in. some of the recipies out there could be used to feed humans theyre so complete  my plain oscar recipe doesnt have an exact, its just whatever looks right. the last batch had beefheart lots of shelled peas lots of shrimp pellets good amount of garlic spinach (i think, it was ages ago) and thats all i remember  there is alot of stuff you can put in, but be careful with livers, they will often make your mixture very runny even with geletine (from experience lol)
Ira
Mine, I haven't made it in ages, is about the same. But with some vitamin pills ground up and mixed in and some flour to hold it together.
Wok
Aga Aga works well to hold food together... good thing about it is that it is made from plants and all natural. Better than using gelatin. I use Beefheart Tetra Colour bits Frozen mixed veges Garlic Aga Aga And blend together in a food processor. then place in snap lock bags and roll flat

Discusguru
Ingredient you can add to make your own food are Oxheart Fishmeat Raw prawns Spirulina powder Multi mineral and vitamin Paprika Spinach That all you need to grow nice big discus. If you are not prepared to do Waterchanges (daily) Do Not feed this because any uneaten will pollute the tank water causing stress to your fish and eventually killing them. Hope that help, Ron
Kim&Dan
Apart from all the other "common" foods, we feed our fish dead fish  Now this might seem a little strange but we feed our fish raw cutoffs from freshwater fish like trout or perch. When we successfully attend to our other hobby that involves fishes (...) we freeze little bits of trout when it's still fresh. Not all fishes eat this but the ones that do go nuts on it - of the ones we have the ones that like it are Neon Tetras, Danios, Agassizi, Convicts, Lumpheads, Guppies, Melanochromis Auratus and Pearl Danios. Just my 2 cents Dan
alanmin4304
Wok is on to it with agar agar. I tried to get some to make a fruitfly media I used to make and it was super expensive or unobtainable. We should all be greatful for Chinese new year. I got a heap in 25g packets realy cheap from our local Asian store, and with some preservative from the local chemist we now have a good media and cheap fish food.
