Warren,

If it doesn't work out, try talking to Daniel Giles of the PNAS

club. Since his 10 footer broke he's been in the market for

another big tank and *really* liked yours :)

I suspect he wouldn't be as keen to pay big dollars as your

first option though

Keep me in mind for any killies (or other fish for that matter)

you may want to get rid of, if you cut down your fishroom.

Mine still isn't built but I hope to attack it Real Soon Now.

Andrew.

Big Tank update.

Its been sold. The new owner is the National Aquarium of New Zealand. Didn't I say it was going to a good home? I'll still be able to visit it regularly to see how its hanging together. I beleive at this stage the long term plan is to put the South American Cichlids into it. That of course may change. I hope its Discus they mean. Then it will be getting used for what it was originally designed for, - a planted Discus tank with 30-35 Discus, - cool :D:D

Have the aquarium got the 'warren's tank' up n running with somebeautiful DISCUS in :D:wink::D ..............Ira should get a free pass just to see ROFL.

Seriously though I hope they put discus in it - the Blue of the frame would really compliment the discus colours. and they would look so serene in it planted and landscaped with wood much as their native habitat is.

Hi Warren

I have a douth in the thickness calculator, can you explain why are there two diferent thickness according to the calculator.

Glass Thickness Calculator

Height 1000 mm

Length 3000 mm

Safety 3.8

Thickness 27.06 mm

Bending 0.49 mm

Glass Safety Factor

Height 1000 mm

Width 3000 mm Is this right meansure

Thickness 19 mm

Safety 1.873297297

Warren If I want a safety factor 3.8 a I just rise o lower the thickness in the space of 19 mm

Does the thickness 19 mm means the glass to use in the tank

which thickness I will need 27.06 mm or 19 mm

Tks

The glass thickness part of the calculator works out the required thickness for the safety factor you want. The safety factor part is useful to work out how safe existing tanks are.

So for a safety factor of 3.8, you need 27mm glass... You choose the safety factor you want and change that value. The thickness result will be calculated for you...
