Caryl
I think if I attempted to console the landscapers they would run as fast as possible in the opposite direction and would never finish the pond! They sealed the latest patches today so now we wait until it has set and fill it up again. Having talked about this pond for over 20 years a few more days is neither here nor there. They are doing their best but haved found it a frustrating learning curve. I think they are more frustrated than I am. We all learn by our mistakes.

Faran
My little pond is about 1/20th the size of that one and took a week to slap together (with only a plastic liner - no concrete) so you still have a few months to get it right on that schedule
Luke*
You're deadright Billaney, do you work in a call centre too? Good on you Caryl

Caryl
Today they drained the pool totally for a final seal. They will leave it until at least Sunday to cure then refill.
alextret
How do they drain the pond? Are they using an electrical pump? Where do they dispose of the water?
Caryl
We have a big pond pump to operate the waterfall and filtration unit. They just aim the hose over the fence into the reserve next door

Caper
Excuse me...but that is not a pond...it's a lake
Faran
I really hope you're not charged for water in your neck of the woods. With the dozen or so empties and refills.... wow, that just boggles my mind on how large that bill would be.
alextret
According to most textbook definitions, it is a pond (because it can be drained for maintenance). Again, according to various literature, the biggest issue with draining is where to get rid of all the water (which, if the pond was operating for a year or so, is probably not of very nice quality). Probably, 7000 liters is not that much, so it is not really an issue for a relatively small pond.
Caper
According to most textbook definitions, it is a pond  I was only kidding about it being a lake
Caryl
We are not charged for water so no problems there. Draining it is simple as our section is right over an old river bed so water disappears very quickly.
Caper
We are not charged for water Is that because you are on a well, Caryl????
Caryl
No. Most places in NZ don't charge for water. We have an artesian town supply
