Tsarmina
i have heaps of little snails in my tank. never had a problem with them until i got my filter. they are all over the outside and inside. how do i stop them from doing this or if this is not possible, how do i get rid of them perminately? this little guys are good for cleaning the tank, but they have become a problem as i believe that they are stopping the fliter from working properly. it's suppoed to suck air through into the tank and it is no longer doing this. all advice is welcome thank you
Feelers
I wouldnt have a clue but I have seen someone selling a snail trap on trademe. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pets-animals/Fish/Other/auction-40708868.htm Maybe others could comment on how good it would work. Looks like an easy diy job.
Wok
Get some loaches. Any kind, as most will eat snails. ie Clown Loach, Striata Loach, etc

Ira
I have a snail problem too. They don't breed fast enough. Get a puffer, puffers love them.
Tsarmina
mine seem to breed rapidly. i have some in there no bigger than this: * as for a puffer, i thought they were saltwater. my tank is fresh.
Ira
Saltwater puffers are saltwater. Brackish water puffers are brackish. Freshwater puffers are freshwater.
beachy
Does anyone know if snail rid works? If so what does it do to your water, fish so on? I have snail probs, but i cant put c/loaches or puffers in my tank. Any suggestions
Ira
Yeah, it works. It basically is just a bunch of copper which is toxic to invertebrates in small quantities and toxic to fish in large quantities.
alanmin4304
I am using it at the moment. I have cleaned up one tank and am now on to number 2. It is copper sulphate as stated so I am trying to catch fish that don't like copper and I very cleverly built 3 caves into the landscape and they are hiding in there. Patience Al. craig
hi, chocolate talking catfish,2 of them and snails gone in a fortnight. when they get bigger you might have to pass them on,as might eat neon etc. take along time to get big.had mine 5yrs,when i get new plants i just borrow one from the asain's tank, never seen him eat a rummy or cardinal and he is plenty big enough. and they croak like a frog, way cool. shell
