Christchurch trip

The planned Marlborough club trip to ChCh has had to be cancelled due to lack of numbers. Grant and I plan to go by ourselves (good to give the MX5 a run) on Saturday 18th January. If anyone wants to meet up with us we hope to be at Redwood's at lunchtime. We'd love to meet you.

We were in ChCh yesterday and went around the bigger shops and were not impressed. The only shop with good looking stock and spotless tanks was Organism. This shop had a wider range of species - not just the 'bread and butter' ones. We went to Redwood's but they are closed until next Monday

You have open organisms on the top of your head!!?? You can get treatment for it I am sure.

Thanks for that Macka. I hope one of the ChCh members can find out definitely for me.

Wanna meet up with us at Redwoods?

Thanks all. I have just realised why 'life' isnt that great. I am not using the top of my head. This is a real eye opener!!! My life is so much richer now for having read this topic.

My other half has just come in wanting to know what "what has tickled my fancy" as I was laughing. Didn't know fish keeping could be so entertaining!

Looks like a change in plans again. We are going to Ashburton on Saturday night instead (are we catching up with you macka?) and visiting ChCh shops on the Sunday. I will have my cell phone with me so if you would like to catch up with us somewhere, ring or text me on 021 1586634 or Grant on 025 465137. I know Redwoods doesn't open until 11am but aren't sure which order we will be going around the shops though bear in mind we are coming in from the south.

Dennis it was a good time. We dropped in on Macka - fish were awesome.

Next day we went to Christchurch and toured around some fish shops. The best was Organisms in Illam Road. I cannot wait to return there and purchase some rummy nose tetras at $6.75 each. This time I just bought plants. The shop was clean, well set out and fish all healthy. The guy knew what he was talking about. Excellent shop. Hope he gets the trade to stay open.

I ran out of energy before i ran out of shops and returned home.

We certainly did have a good time. I enjoyed meeting macka and his fishes and catching up with goldie.

We saw a few shops and bought lots of plants but couldn't get any fish as my tank ammonia level was too high.

Andrew gave us contact with a fish breeder so we got to visit him and his fishroom too.

All in all it was well worth the time and effort to go down. This is the fun side of fishkeeping and what I enjoy most about my club and the FNZAS. They allow me to meet many fishkeepers who I would otherwise not know existed.
