Hey there I have an outdoor 20gallon tank with 8 white cloud minnows

and I was wondering if I could find some nz killifish and add them in there?

it is very hard to find a cold water fish that won’t eat white cloud minnows.

the temp drops to possibly 5 degrees c.
and Will they eat my minnows?
thankyou!

You are allowed to catch them at all. Probably because of idiots who do so, discover how nasty they are, then release them in the nearest waterway that probably didn't have gambusia before they released theirs into it. I would imagine gambusia are a lot more widespread in Florida. Rules vary here from council to council. They are more of a problem (the gambusia, not the council) the further north you go with warmer temps.

Do you mean not allowed?

Yeah it seems you are very distant from nature in NZ.

If i read the law right i can take non native fish of i want to eat them?

What about the guppies they are much More friendly?

In other countries I've just gone to the water found something invasive colorful fish, loved it then sold it when I left the country

If i say I'm fating then up for sale is that legal?

My typo, of course I meant  you are NOT allowed to catch them at all.

What do you mean by being very distant from nature?

Fishing laws vary in different parts of the country so it would pay to check the local laws with your council, or Fish & Game.

We have a lot of unique native flora and fauna here, due to our geographical isolation, so differ from many other countries when it comes to catch and release.

it seems all hidden behind laws that you have no navigate to even touch it.

else where if i wanted to teach some one whats in the water i'd just go out there with a net and see for my self, sending most back but maybe keeping one for my tank and thats normal in all of the world we are part of nature and know how to respect her. but in nz it seems you have to be certified to even shit in the woods....

Most of the time we can catch and release/keep etc too but not if it involves native, or invasive, species.

We don't mind you shitting in the woods, as long as you are off the path, so nobody stands in it, it is the ones who do it in the waterways who are more of a problem! ?
