LeftHookGary
How many fish could I add with out making a mini cycle to a tank with 7 black skirt tetras? Im thinking about buying 11 serpae tetras to go along with them would this be too much of a bioload? Should I just add the bolvian ram pair I hoping to add first as that would be less. livingart
Once you have the tank established when adding new fishjust test for ammonia rising and do a water change if necessary, nitrifying bacteria multiply pretty fast
LeftHookGary
I went from one to 7 black skirts without a swing so is it safe to assume I can put 11 sepaes in?
livingart
Yes you can but I would do a 25% water change every second day for a week afterwards just to ensure any possible ammonia was reduced in the tank Caryl
alanmin4304
You actually need a small rise in ammonia to feed the extra bacteria that will eventually feed on and remove the extra ammonia produced by the extra fish. It is a living system and it is all about balance. Caryl
