Have been tasked with setting up a local marine tank for a local dive shop, so thought i would do a build thread.

Tank supplied is 2.4m x70cm x 60cm on macrocarpa stand (heavy unit).

the back 180mm of tank is a sump compartment.

Equipment for build.

7" Filter Sock Mount

7" Nylon Filter Sock - 100 micron

Aquarium UV Sterilizer 36 Watt

Auto Top-up - Gravity Fed with float valve

Coral Box D700 Protein Skimmer DC variable Pump

Granular Ferric Oxide (GFO)

Jebao DCT-12000 Variable Return Pump

JEBAO WP-40 Aquarium Wavemaker

Portable Refractometer - measure salinity

Replacement UV 36 Watt lamp G23 fitting

Get tank on weekend so after viewing may have to change things around a bit.

will post pics as it happens.

So am I :bggrn:

Love building set ups, will have to include a 1/2 HP chiller but will leave that until necessary in the warmer weather as it will help speed up the cycle which can take up to 6 months depending on how cold the system is.

Have live rock already cycling for the last 3 months so with weekly water changes of natural salt water should help crank things along.

Tank arrived yesterday (sunday), 80cm wide but back 220mm is a built in sump with an overflow box in middle of tank with a 25mm pipe connecting to sump at back.

Won't be enough flow for a marine tank so started to drill 2 holes in centre back sheet of glass for the sump overflow, started first hole then started on 2nd hole to get position right and POW, shattered sheet of glass.

2 snapped craft knife blades later no back sump, lots of room now just need to drill overflow holes for external sump.
