disgustipated
sounds like he's gonna be sweet, and in a year or so you're gonna have a monster that you can't feed enough to
aer0
I just hope he doesn't pick on the other cichlids, I might have to separate him out when he gets too big
aer0
Oscar update, not a good one either. My wife just went to do the daily feeding and he is not looking good, was hiding in some rockscape in the tank and his tail damage appears to have a mold like growth on it. It may be time to put him to sleep if he is that unwell, ill try get a photo tonight
livingart
is it still with the convict?
aer0
yes, i think that might be causing him the stress... although they are the only two fish in 400 liters of water
disgustipated
doesn't matter how big the tank is. the aggressor will always find its victim.
livingart
adding some more cover for the oscar will take its stress levels down fish can be aggressive to each other just with body language best to separate them

aer0
100 litres (25%) weekly on a saturday feeding flake mixture and shrimp pallets daily and bloodworms or similar every second day
camtang
I would be doing a small change everyday or at least every other day making sure to take any food and waste at the same time. Just while its unhealthy

aer0
sorry all but Oscar didnt make it I wont be getting another Oscar for a while, I need to finish my African tank before I start on another tank for my office. Im thinking of upgrading the tank I keep at work to something large enough for an Oscar, do you think 150l is big enough for one Oscar, or should I aim for bigger? disgustipated
no, 150 litre is far to small for one oscar. you need to be looking at the very, very least 300 litres for a fully grown oscar. you might get away with growing one out from small in a 150 litre but you will very soon need to upgrade as they grow fast ie reach 20-30 cm in under two years.
