  1. We must be talking a few thousand here...
  2. Unfortunately the jack is going out the door... picks on every fish in the tank. Took him out last night and put him in his own tank and now the other tank with the red jewels is peaceful as anything... very cool, but sucks they wont get along.
  3. Jack Dempsey & Red Jewels living together.. What are my odds? I realize they are not normally compatible due to the water requirements, but aggression wise... Is it do able? Also if you have a jack yourself, whats it living with?
  4. When the male died the red tail became the dominant fish of the tank... hes just telling them whos boss
  5. Cheapest pump for a small tank - sponge filter with active carbon. Expensive filter for large tank - canister filter. Theres a million different filters that do a million different things.
  6. Some micro worms wouldnt go astray, free, easy to keep, high protein, just need a starter culture .
  7. Sorry to hear good look with the African tank
  8. Blues are blue normally electric blue, normal jacks are brown/purple ish
  9. Ok so all the fish seem to be getting along so far apart from the jack and the pandas... the jack keeps trying to take nips out of the pandas. Should i leave them in there and hope they eventually get along or get rid of the pandas before they get eaten?
  10. Aw that sucks, would of made a pretty interesting tank with a few multi colored lights
  11. Ive seen plenty of people succeed at keeping the blues and yellows together... but in my experience the yellows pick on the blues something chronic
  12. Haha oh god, hope hes not like your old one . I won a big 30cm one on trademe 6 months ago but when i emailed to make pickup arrangements they gave me the whole "it died over night" speech. Hes doing good in there so far, just trying to understand territories, he'l be first to go before the jack if there is any aggression tho .
  13. I diddnt follow the guide lines... Just came home with a little jack dempsey & a black shark... 0.0 Think ill probably need a bigger tank in 6 months or so but looking atm
  14. Blue rams sound good. Found a pair of electric blue rams but theyre not as nice as the german rams
  15. Hmm yea you could be right. How about just a couple blue rams without the jack dempseys? can multi blue rams be kept together? thanks for the info btw
  16. ! thanks disgustipated - thats enough convincing for me haha. What about blue rams? can they get along aswell? or just the current tenants and a couple jack dempseys?
  17. I would LOVE electric blue jack dempseys... but would they try eat the pandas or loach?
  18. So i bought another tank the other day and am now currently contemplating on what fish to keep in it. (and yes it has been cycled) Current tenants: - 2x Hoplo cats - 2x Panda cats - 1x Zebra Loach (hes fine by himself ^^) - 1x gba - 1x Butterfly sucker Theres a million fish i would like but compatibility is always an issue. Suggestions on a couple jack dempseys or blue rams or even both?? any other suggestions are welcome too really not too keen or cichlids but jack dempseys would be more than a welcome exemption. Thanks!
