F15hguy
found these today in the middle harbour. couldn't resist, will have to see how they go. there about 10 different kinds all in different colours. excuse the bad pic, it really doesn't show ff how brightly coloured they are (plus was taken after only in 1/2 an hour, has opened fully now)

reuben.a
cool birdled gobys where did you find them?
F15hguy
not bridled gobies, Favonigobius sp. most literature states that it should be exquisitus, but tbh im not too sure on that ID as of yet. if you look at the back left there is a sand anemone as well everything except the Jewel anemone was collected from the waterfront in buretta (straight off Kulim park) at low tide in the eel grass flats. The jewels were collected from the marina by the harbour bridge (seriously go for a look, that place has as much if not more life than around the mount, and probably a few "unwanteds" as well due to the boaT traffic. just stick your head over the side.) might sneak in for a snorkel once the water gets a bit warmer. F15hguy
interesting, just found out that the Jewel anemones are closer related to corals than anemones also does anyone know if Tomato anemones are similar to keep to jewels or different again. btw they are currently happily devouring the left over Tuatua mince that was too small for the gobies

livingart
http://www.reefkeepers.co.nz/forum/foru ... 758#p11758 Red Beadlet anenome Actinia tenebrosa The Red Beadlet or Waratah anemone, Actinia tenebrosa is possibly the most common species of sea anemone found around the coast of New Zealasnd. It is usually found in rock pools in the intertidal zone. When closed it shows only its dark brown-red outer surface, when open it shows a lighter red colour. This species releases well-developed young anemones through the mouth, which often attach themselves to rocks in close proximity to the parent.
