Caryl
:gigl: Jewish vampires in your tank might be an interesting feature! Jewel-like sparkly bubbles are normal Your error could be edited but it is funnier to leave it :slfg:

SamH
If the plants are new, it's common. Also, if you have sufficient CO2 and lighting to cause the plants to give off visible oxygen bubbles or "pearl" as it's also know.
camtang
I will take this mistake with a grain of salt and leave it for the fish world to giggle at me for. What exactly are the JEWEL-like bubbles? what cause's them what do they do etc etc? I also saw a constent stream of fine bubbles leaveing the substract from under a plant the other day. same question, normal? ok? what are they? and why? please and thank you's

Plants are new, so cool  does that mean i should lower lighting and CO2? or keep it the same. ( I am using purely only natural light as tank is sitting in a box window so thought why not give it a hoon. free lighting and heating??? :smln: )
SamH
I'm talking hours old, are your plants only hours old? Only ever lower CO2 when the fish show signs of stress.
camtang
2 maybe 3 daysish so not many hours old. sweet fish seem as happy as a kid with a lollipop
GrahamC
It's oxygen which is a result of photosynthesis. Even after a year my low tech planted tank does this, but it also sits in full sunshine.
camtang
i wonder if mine will do the same as is in plenty of sunshine. do you run lights over it or just use sunlight?

GrahamC
I have a heater in the tank and it goes on at night time .. turns off by itself during the day when it's hot enough. If it gets too hot I pull some curtains across.
