Ymir
What species of anubias is this? http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/fish/aquatic-plants/auction-525340879.htm
Sophia
it isn't one I don't know what it really is though
Li@m
First of all, it's not anubias of any kind. I've had a similar plant before and I just threw it in the bin cause it wasn't growing and wouldn't root.
alanmin4304
Mouses ear (saururus cernuus)
Godly3vil
If it is saururus cernuus, someone should let him know and also tell him it will only last a couple of months max in the aquarium before it starts to die off.
blueether
My saururus cernuus is doing ok, has been in a low light tank for 6 months now. It did die right back to a single leaf though.
alanmin4304
It will grow OK if converted from the emersed state as it is normally grown and sold. It was a popular pot plant in Victorian times. The sap when newly picked can be poisonous to fish. Soak in a bucket for a couple of days and then float until it grows submersed shoots with a few leaves then break off and plant. Grows slowly like Anubius so subject also to algae problems. alanmin4304
When I was growing a lot of plants I grew a lot of that. Easy to grow in a cloche but it needs to be managed and most people sell it too big. It has a massive root system and grows like convolvulus. You break up the roots and plant them out but pick off the shoots when they have 3 small leaves (then it looks like a little plant rather just a giant leaf) at that stage it will convert with good light.
