Godly3vil
You have all the luck!! Curious to know the conditions of the water you use in your tanks, is it straight from the tap?
danval
Straight from the sky I don't test the water... sometimes for PH.
danval
The male now appears to be quite aggressive towards the female... Would it be advisable to remove her?
Godly3vil
Everything I have read on breeding rams says yes, you should remove her. That is unless you have them in a tank that has alot of places she can go and take refuge?
danval
Will do that now.. Cheers

karina
Straight from the sky I don't test the water... sometimes for PH. On tank water? Or do you collect it? Have thought about setting up a small rain water collection system myself.
F15hguy
if your collecting just beware during spraying seasons, especially if you are even slightly rural
dino
A friend has given me a reverse osmosis kit. Will that simulate rainwater? anyone have experience with using one?
danval
Hey Karina. I just collect it from the downpipe off the roof. Sorry dino I know nothing about the reverse osmosis kits...

F15hguy
first batch normally goes that way time to start pumping the live food (p.s. you'll get quicker results if you separate the pair now and feed the girl up as much as you dare)
karina
I got 3 blue rams and 3 veiltailes today :happy2: Wanted to get 3 balloon rams too but there was only 1 left. I know the balloons are not everyone's cup o tea, but I think they are pretty adorable. Also started to get my school of cardinals going. Very excited! karina
Nice work Karina. Pics please when they have settled in Will do. However I climatised them slowly so they did not hide at all and cruised the tank pretty much straight away. Would those licorice gouramis go with rams? Thoughts anyone?
F15hguy
i would expect the gourami's would be bullied by the rams as they tend to inhabit the same parts of the tank, plus the gourami are very shy. I would more move towards a tank specially setup for these guys
Joe
Licorice gouramis need soft water and tannins. Best kept in a species tank, or in a tank with other peaceful fish that will live happily in the same conditions e.g. Ember Tetras. They are not suited to the general community tank or planted tank as most plants won't grow well in the conditions that the gouramis require. Crypts are probably about the only species that would thrive in a gourami set up.

Discusguru
Are the blue ram actually from germany? I thought they were imported from singapore. Ron
F15hguy
Common name for standards nowdays is German Blue ram, it makes them more marketable somehow, i'll stick with good old blue ram.
