amtiskaw
That's waaaay too much. You should be dosing weekly, but nowhere near that level. For example, I use a mix of Potassium Sulfate, Calcium Sulfate and Magnesium Sulfate, and one Tablespoon will raise the GH of 20 gallons of water by 3 degrees. kiwiplymouth
Yep that's way too much. I dose 1 teaspoon of MGSO4 per 300L with every 50% water change.

blueether
Would that be the dose for using them as tonic salts?
kiwiplymouth
I have never seen a packet of epsom salts with dosing instructions for E.I on it. I imagine that the instructions are for using them as bath salts
WillskE
the formula is hand writing on it, i assume its by the guys at hff, as thats what they said to follow. i think il go check with them again tomorrow just to make sure. WillskE
they said its correct and that it wouldnt have bad effects even if over dose on epsom salt so i guess 44 tsp would be fine...
WillskE
............i just called the albany hff and ask the same thing and they told me thats too much and its going to kill all my plant :tears: omg .......
phoenix44
I only put in a couple of tea spoons in my tank (approx 200L). You don't need a huge amount.

Did you get the guys name? HFF might want to know one of their staff is giving out incorrect advice :dunno:
Adrienne
I have been instructed to dose 1tsp each 200 litre water change.
WillskE
i dont know their names, but i asked 2 different guys on 2 different days.. and i specifically asked if i was to follow that 1tsp per 4.5liter formula on the packet
Ira
1 tsp per 4.5L is about the normal dosage for treating constipation, dropsy etc. Not for using it as a fertilizer.
WillskE
i didnt say anything about constipation or anything regards to the fish, i just simply described the condition the plants were in especially the tiger lotus.. Zev
Perhaps HFF need to stipulate what the dosage is for, as Ira said the dosage rate appears to be that for treating fish in a quarantine tank, not as for dosing a planted tank on a weekly/waterchange basis.
