fishy-fish
So a month or so ago I cut up the glass for a new tank but with Christmas and then the birth of our 4th child, I haven't had a spare weekend to build it. Finally this weekend I had some spare time (what's that!) and got stuck into it (excuse the pun). The tank is made from glass I picked up from a building site and the local dump and it was all FREE  My only outlay for this project was a tube of silicone = $15 :happy1: The base, back and sides are made of 5mm tinted glass (and old conservatory!) and the front panel, bracing and lid is 6mm clear (and old french door). The overall dimensions are 940(l)x460(w)x460(h) I still haven't decided what I'm going to stock it with but it will more than likely be a single species tank. Here are some pics... The glass before it got cleaned up The front panel glued to the base The sides go on Bracing completed with the exception of the side braces for the lid to sit on. Need to borrow some clamps to finish! Top view. I decided not to use a middle brace to make it easier to net fish and clean the tank. It will have one big lid that will sit inside the bracing and I will make a handle for it to make it easier to lift. Obviously this was never intended to be a display tank, so I haven't been to fussy with my gluing. Cutting the access for cords and plumbing was a bit of fun. Always hard to make small breaks in 6mm glass! You can see that it didn't break clean on one side  , but hey, the hole still works  I will post a couple more pics once it's complete and cleaned up. Adrienne
Looks good - it never ceases to amaze me how some people can make tanks so easily. I don't think I would have a hope!

fishy-fish
Use imgur instead of photobucket? Fixed the problem. I had moved the photos to another album which breaks the incoding I guess.

alanmin4304
You can cut an almost rectangular piece out for the plumbing provided you round the corner off. Make sure that the cut starts and finishes at right angles to the edge then when scored tap it underneath with the underside of the cutter to stat it running. Practice on a bit of scrap and start with 4mm.
