agoh
If I were to drive to that new mega fish centre in Napier (I'm from Wellington) and buy fish..anyone know about any great ways to transport the fish back without subjecting it to stress??? Billaney
i got some fish from Napier before christmas , just in a starafoam (spelling) box, paper to keep them steady and plenty of air in the bags , took me 6 hours and they were fine. Caryl
Packed in rounded corner plastic bags, 1/4 water and 3/4 oxygen carried in polystyrene box with lid. Few fish per bag. If cichlids, or stroppy fish, one fish per bag. Make sure bags are tight fitting in the box and not able to move around. Newspaper scrunched up is good and added insulation. If you are worried about temperature (unlikely to be a problem, except for overheating, this time of year) fill a plastic fizz bottle with hot water and wrap it in a towel to pack in the box with the bags. I bought fish back from Auckland in a poly bin, no problems. especially with the weather the way it is! as said take newspaper. I am sure they will be fine. some pet shops might give you a bin, otherwise i saw some for sale in Plastic Plus or one of those shops. have fun and let us know plecs

livebearer_breeder
I find the less i care about the fish when traveling, the more it tends to survive, the more i care and worry, the more i lose. Murphys law. Shae
