Driftwood

Sounds like a problem. Can you get a plastic rubbish bin big enough to take it?

Otherwise how about a fishtank

If you can't sink it you might need to tie some lead weights discreetly to it in order to make it stay down.

Cheers

I have to go with hummingbirds idea of a plastic liner, I am looking at a tewmpory pond type thing that would work also for soaking driftwood and it is constructing a frame, similiar to the sort around a bath and then lining it with a pond liner or black polythene to create the pond part.

No holes, no bath and reasonably easy.

Just had a thought... Go around some of those develpments and see if you can score an offcut of plumbing pipe. picked up about a meter "offcut" of 4" pipe, and if i wanted to i could get an endcap to fit it. That assuming your piece of driftwood is relativly straight

Just tap water gretal. Different woods take different times to soak. They are soaked to pre remove any tannins that may be in them and turn the water brown (harmless but some think unsightly) and to waterlog the wood so it sinks.
