Tropicals in coldwater

Presonally I think it is wrong to put tropical fish in coldwater but I have heaps of customers who have and who buy them from other stores who have them in coldwater tanks. Just buy a damn heater!!!

What I want to know is, what are the fish generally considered suitable for putting in a coldwater tank?

Define 'cold'. If you mean average room temperature then quite a few manage in a modern, well insulated home. By 'cold' I refer to around 18C.

guppies

white clouds of course

leopardfish (also coldwater anyway)

golden barbs

rosy barbs

for a start.

Paradise Fish and american flags also do well in colder tanks!

Both can be a little nippy though, especially the flags.

Both fish are quite lovely though. I have seen Paradise Fish in outdoor ponds too, and they seem to do very well.
