Ira
Looks like a definite case of bloat/dropsy.
mcrudd
Looks like a definite case of bloat/dropsy. +1 I can see some pineconing even with the blurry pic. So sorry about your fishy
the-obstacle
Yeah, he's doing ok for now. Once he starts to show signs of being in pain I'll put him out of his misery. He's still eating everything and swimming like mad the length of the tank.
livebearer_breeder
that may not be dropsy, there’s no way to tell if the scales are protruding with those pictures. See how he goes, is he pooing?
the-obstacle
The scales aren't protruding but I don't know any other reason for this to have happened. The water in this tank is probably the best in the house as I like to do a 10% change every day while I'm cooking dinner (read: avoiding the kids). livebearer_breeder
sometimes things can go wrong in there digestive tracts that cause bloating, some fish will live with this others eventually die, if its not actually pine coneing then its not dropsy
the-obstacle
I just had a really good look and there aren't any scales sticking out from the body so perhaps not dropsy then. He seems in good spirits and isn't getting bigger so I'm not too worried.

critter_crazy
Wow he is big I hope he gets better. My fighter looked like that about a week ago and I got really worried. Turned out all that had happened was one of my guppies had dropped her fry overnight and he'd had a bit of a midnight feast

the-obstacle
He's totally back to normal today. Must have been a blockage somewhere.
