henward
decided on very dark substrate, fine dark substrate. this is SATIN BLACK substrate from pet stuff, is extremely awesome! fine like silica sand, so dirt wont easily move down the substrate. 3x manuka roots on the left side for loaches and bottom dwellers to seek shelter in. caves in the middle and log at the end for eel. but generally open space at the centre and towards right for feeeding time. Reedhook, 6 bar, pacus are all gonna go. RTG is also sold. so mids will be minimal with a massive focus on the VIP and bottom dwellers. gonna wait for natural sand movements tos ee where the weak spots are of the substrate and reinforce them with stones and pebbles to keep erosion consistent and whole ground covered Here is the vid:
Ira
Man that tank looks so busy and chaotic. Maybe some more vertical pieces of driftwood for the fish to swim behind to break things up or something...
henward
haha most of those mid swimming fish if not all is going to not be there anymore. only bottom dwellers will be there. the only fish that will remain is the albino tinfoil barb and flagtail - maybe 2 geophagus. whtas chaotic about it? David R
Don't like the sawn off tops on the stumps.... Sand looks good though, will be cool to see the big clowns and red in there. I think the layout will look great with your intended stock of mostly bottom dwellers + aro.

ally07
Hope you've got your tanning lights sorted! I know it's ugly, but for the best results you should place the lights on the side of the tank rather than on top.. But I'm sure you already knew that! :smln:
henward
lol yeah got the last arcadia from HFF roskill. i am told after 3 to 4 months of the original tanning light from arcadia which is a reddish tinge, a make up really for fish which id otn like someone recommended to me as 12% uvb D3 arcadia reptile bulb as a replacement works better as it has more than double the uvb. ill get that eventually but yes, the tanning lights is designed for underwater positioning. its actually quite discreet - doesnt look TOOOO bad lol

Rozski
I like it :spop: Love the roots on the left. Like above, be awesome if the sawn off tops finished flush at the water surface, but eh, they still look cool
henward
yeah, if i get more that are not sawn off ill change them lol but yeah, i love the root systems. really gives plecos and the loaches a place to hide

David R
because its about $3 a packet that will last for ages? Hardly a rare or expensive commodity to worry about "wasting"... :smln:
AquaLife
Very impressed. Where do you get the beef heart? Butcher or supermarket and are they cleaned?
David R
Supermarkets will have it in sometimes, its luck of the draw really as they don't usually get much in.
