David R
Central american cichlid community? Jag, festae, red devil/midas, JD, convict, salvini, vieja etc, big rock pile for fry to hide in, would be interesting to see pairs defending territories and breeding in a tank that size... David R
Here's a great example of a ~3000L (2.7x1.2x1.0M) ply/fibreglass tank with big CA's; http://youtu.be/WSBGNn_Odbk Doesn't look like many fish but bear in mind that jag is 40cm!! More pics here. Could do something similar (obviously without the pearsei and bocourti), maybe even have a few breeding pairs of the smaller species to liven it up a bit. If you weren't concerned about keeping it strictly CA you could add some big synos and/or an aro at the top... and if anyone is keen to make one, here's how; http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... p?t=319933
Fruju
I would go a beautiful reef tank, whenever people go to an aquarium they want to see the 'pretty corals and the nemo fish', appeal to their tastes LA.

Sophia
Sounds like you need a natives tank then, a big shoal of inanga or bullies and/or some bugs in crevices that you can see with torches provided like at SeaFriends at Goat Island. Have you been there?
livingart
haven't been there recently native tank feeding into a stream system on a shallow incline to a pool below may be a go

David R
nice post davidr, future project is a 5 metre in the same style    Always wanted an indoor pond big enough to have a huge group of large central american cichlids living, breeding and raising fry naturally. Five metres would be pretty close to that depending on the width!! Let me know when its getting close to finished and I'll put aside a batch of festae fry to help populate it
