What wattage heater do you use most?

Wont use more power will just heat water faster, thermostat may not be accurate enough to keep temp even in a small volume of water (ie not responsive enough for the fast changes that a 300@ heater will have in a small tank) but 300W is about best. I would import 300Ws if I was you :)

Whats your reason for the question? Heater size in my case is related to the tank size.

I would be struggling to get a 300 watt heater in most of my breeding tanks so my answer would be a 50 watt heater.

Recommended is 1.5 watts per litre of water.

There are already tons of imported no name brands on trademe would probably be a difficult market to break into. And yeah you would have to make sure the plugs were all right :) And also be aware that people will be after you for refunds if you import rubbish and it blows up or cooks their fish..

the brands im looking at seem to be quite good 50 watts would be about $9 and 300 watts around $15-16

At that price I doubt the word GOOD could be used to describe them.

Maybe a good paper weight, but how could something that cheap compare to something like a Jager etc.

Just my opinion.

You get what you pay for, and I sure as hell would not trust a $15 heater to look after my $400 worth of fish.

i wouldnt sell something i wouldnt use myself

have you used one of the brand you are buying?

I prefer to use 2x150watt rather than 1x300watt

i used to have the same thoughts until i threw out a couple of jebo 150's for a jager 300. as long as teh tank has some flow it is fine to have a single large instead of two smaller.

I prefer to use heaters suited for the tank size so i have jagers, 50W, 2 x150, 200 & 300.
