waterlogged
does anyone have a really nice/unique male they might want to sell?
Stephanie
i think this thread has renewed my interest in fighters lol. it's all your fault josh =p It's always his fault! I never even really liked fighters until I met him. I was content with a nice VT floating around in my little tank. We counted finally the other night. 23 I think it was. Not including four current spawns. They're taking over, you have been warned.  I wish we had a better selection here. I've seen heaps of pretty nice halfmoons around, but you look at the standards oversees and see that the fins are always bigger, always more perfect and amazing. Maybe one day.. I won't even start on the crowntails I keep drooling over on aquabid.
SamH
I won't even start on the crowntails I keep drooling over on aquabid. That site is VERY dangerous. Lost several keyboard due to drool shorting out the circuits
Stephanie
Look at the length of the fins on the female crowntails on that evil site I wish i'd never seen haha. I want! I hope my babies randomly decide to look like that. I will be the happiest fighter breeder ever.
Adrienne
if you want good long fins on your females and males keep the water incredibly clean otherwise they will start to curl. If the males have good strong rays and the females are pure ct you should get decent length fins and tail rays on the females.
katrina.hughes
Thats handy to know - thanks for that Adrienne. Its really hard to clean the bottom of the tank without squashing a few babies, is there any preferred/easy method of doing this?
Trilobite
squashing a few babies  this is my problem too. I too would love to hear how to avoid this
Discusguru
I wouldn't worry about cleaning the tank if the frys are too tiny. Just changing half the water and replacing with same temp fresh water daily or at least every second day will get the frys growing very fast. You will also have to feed them live food at least 4 times a day in order to grow them fast.
katrina.hughes
Awesome - yea because when I did my research on the net it said that by 6 weeks you should start to separate them into males and females.... mine are about 8 weeks old and still can't tell the difference yet! lol
Discusguru
If you're feeding heaps and doing a lot of wc, the fish should be quite big at 8 weeks. Too many fish in a tank will slow the growth too.
katrina.hughes
Hmmm.... didn't feed as much as I probably should have in the first 1 week of feeding (was in short supply of BBS) - feeding as much as they can eat now though. Will attach a pic of them tonight

Adrienne
What happened to the lot I gave you? well... you see... I'm not very good at reseeding new cultures and it died off. The trouble is that I don't use it that much at all then when I think it would be good to have some on hand... Josh you are welcome to come visit any time. zarabenfell
I have a dragon (see profile pic...) which I am breeding from. Will be keeping a close eye on his offspring . Hi. I was wondering if you are still breeding? if so do you have any for sale? I have been awake for days searching for a siamese fighting fish like yours in NZ and I've all but given up &c:ry
