Our rights when collecting NSW

Some of you may already be aware of this but I have just been hunting the Environment Waikato website and have finally found this information I wanted to clarify for myself.

16 Implementation Methods

16.3 Water Quality

16.3.2 Taking and Use of Coastal Water (Permitted Activity)

The taking and use of water from the CMA is a permitted activity provided it complies with the conditions stated in this Rule.

Conditions

i. The take and use occurs in open coastal waters; or

ii. The take and use occurs in estuaries, inlets, harbours or embayments and the quantities taken and used are less than 1,000 cubic metres per day.

Principal Reasons for Adopting:

The RMA distinguishes between open coastal water and water in or near estuaries, inlets, harbours and embayments. In general there are few if any, adverse effects on the environment from taking open coastal water. However, potential adverse effects on taking water from more enclosed areas and areas closer to land, include effects on sediments and habitat.

so your allowed to take 50 truck loads per day, that should be enough.

I got bailed up by some local surfers once, not quite sure what they thought my taking 250l of water was going to do to their surfing, but there you go.

Do these people not realise that no matter how much water you take, eventually it will end up back in the ocean.

Kinda bizzare really that they would be concerned at taking NSW. I understand if large quantities were being piped from an estuary but from the sea?

i tell them we are extracting gold from it

i do take 1,000 litres at a time

O good that means ill have plenty of water for my new nano!

thank god they let us take 1000 cubic meters i don't think i could fill my 60L tank with any less than that!

anyway this is my first post!( in the non advertising section) this forum is rather helpful, im glad i found it.

I would tell them I'm with the anti global warming organisation and that I'm reducing sea levels to counter the effects of c02 emmisions haha
