Jatt16
So after getting sick of changing the yeast and sugar mix, the diy way . I am ready to move on to a Hi tech System. I had these things in mind. Solenoid /regulator http://cgi.ebay.com/CO2-Regulator-Dual-Gauged-Solenoid-Magnetic-Valve-A153-/160443348001?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item255b2b3421 Bubble Counter with check valve http://cgi.ebay.com/UP-Regulator-Bubble-Counter-built-in-Check-Valve-D498-/160457033306?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Fish&hash=item255bfc065a Diffusers http://cgi.ebay.com/CO2-Flat-Aquarium-Tank-Pollen-Glass-Diffuser-x-2pcs-L-/160336299477?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Fish&hash=item2554c9c5d5 Tubing http://cgi.ebay.com/Co2-Proof-Clear-Tubing-Air-Pipe-10M-10-Meter-33-feet-/180365790121?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item29fea38ba9 and the 1kg bottle http://cgi.ebay.com/UP-CO2-Aquarium-Quality-Refillable-1KG-Cylinder-A138_W0QQitemZ180518367426QQcategoryZ117435QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4862997095805861270 my questions where 1)Do i have everything i need 2) Is the bottle ok for NZ standard, it is 22mm thread and will be need testing and filling. 3)How long will a 1kg bottle last for a 215litre tank I am still waiting for sellers prices, but had a rough amount of $120 US exc shipping. Please let me know if you see an problems or improvements. Thanks
phoenix44
A 1kg bottle isn't going to go very far. Stick to getting a bottle in NZ, and you are looking at paying about 300 or so for a bottle.
dreams
Im currently using an Up Aqua system on a 100 ltr tank similar to the one you posted though i brought them when i was in asia. The up aqua branded products were a regulator with needle valve and solenoid, 1kg Co2 bottle and a bubble counter. The 1kg bottle lasts me about 5 months, so you may want to get a bigger bottle depending on how often you want to refill it. Not sure of my thread mm but the regulator fits it perfectly. For co2, i refill it at Fire Corp Onehunga and takes about 10mins or less and costs about $17 In terms of reliability, its pretty good apart from my bubble counter which leaks CO2 at high pressures. Make sure you get a good check valve, as water back flowed into my solenoid and broke it when the bottle emptied out. If your thinking of supplying Co2 to more than one tank, then think about getting a regulator with multiple valves, otherwise it becomes hard to manage pressure at 2 separate tanks. You will probably be ok with two Ceramic diffusers in your tank, if you want better diffusion, i find a powerhead to be pretty good (also doesnt require cleaning as often). In line Co2 reactors are best, you can buy those online as well, otherwise look online for some easy DIY videos. you dont have to get up aqua regulators on Ebay, look on TM, theres like 3 on sale atm, one even has 6 valves on it - awesome for when you want to do another planted tank Have Fun
fordayzbro
Hi, If you want to setup a Co2 sytem you need to think outside of ebay as it's not always the cheapest option. The regulator you looked at comes with a bubble counter anyway. The price looks good - bubble counters don't need to be flash as they just count bubbles and pretty much last forever. No need to get flashy about spiral stuff The diffuser is the most important part that you'll buy if you align that with good flow from your filter. Gas bottle is up to you... you can get adaptors for any bottle if you need one.... These systems are reallly easy to setup, it's how you get the ferts and light measures after that which will give you the real results. There are plenty of sites on the web which will give you the info you need.... including this one. may the fish gods be with you....
Jatt16
Hi Thanks for the replys After reading what some of you say. I think i shall look into getting a bigger co2 bottle sourced locally that will at least last about 10 months. But the challenge will be to find a suitable bottle that is not too big or too small as it needs to go inside the stand and cannot sit beside it as there are close walls on all three sides.
