land_lubber
So I've been reading up on pressurised co2 and think i know what to get and set it up, the only thing I'm wondering about is which is better to use? a glass diffuser? or a reactor? what does everyone think? No idea about reactors, but glass diffusers are pretty good. Ive imported a load, may be worth sending A-town a pm seeing if he has any left. land_lubber
Does he have those Rhinox ones?
phoenix44
Best to buy the rhinox ones from ebay. I buy them and send them directly to someone on here for what it costs. Just remember a rhinox will only work on a proper CO2 system and usually needs 5bbs not 1bps - for the 5000.

land_lubber
Hey P44 I was thinking of getting the rhinox 5000 but read in the planted tank forums that the Rhinox 2000 is better for a tank upto 75g because of the amount of bps you need the 5000 to run. What do you think I should get for my Rio 180? what do you think of your 5000? do you think a reactor would be better? like the red sea one. phoenix44
dunno haha. I would get a 5000 just cause its fat as a ... well its an awesome diffuser, but if its too much CO2 for a 180 then smaller would be better.
land_lubber
I might buy two 2000's (one extra incase I break the other) and see how that goes, if its not enough then I will get a 5000 since they aren't that expensive anyway. Or I might just buy one of each.
trav
hey i just got one aswell :bounce: how much did the 3d background cost?
land_lubber
I can't remember exactly but they are not cheap. I brought 3 of them thinking thats how many I would need but I only needed 2. I have the spare one on trademe that someone has brought but they have been mucking me around for the last week so it might be up for sale again. Think they are $70 each. As a side not I was selling my spare one for $30 still in box.
land_lubber
Yesterday on my way home from work I stopped in at HFF in Albany and got a pair of German Blue Rams and 10 Cardinal Tetras. I want to get another 10 Cardinals cause with just 10 it still looks empty. Also today I picked up a co2 tank and at the end of this week I'm get everything else for my co2 so should have it set up this weekend. Here are some pics. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i68/l ... land_lubber
I have had my pressurised co2 running for about 2 weeks now and the growth has been amazing. I have trimmed everything twice apart from my swords and tiger lotus. Here are some updated pics as of this afternoon. Yes I know its annoying having to open up another page to looks at photos but I have no idea how to resize them but keep them big so deal with it  http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i68/l ... Brennos
Why don't my plants look that nice. My tank is filthy compared to yours.
land_lubber
 You can't see it but I have green hair algae on most of the plants which is annoying me real bad so I just brought a flying fox to hopefully help get rid of it and turned my co2 up a little and starting dosing flourish excel again at a higher rate than what the bottle says but not by much. I also have a very tiny amount of black beard algae that I have been meaning to pull out as well. I'm thinking of getting a couple more swords to plant as well, anyone got any comments on which kind? I was thinking maybe a rose but I know they grow pretty big.
Morcs
looking good. mines just started growing (all baby plantlets) and the co2 seems to be working well, cant wait for it to grow in and look like yours
land_lubber
Cheers. The Tiger Lotus hasn't grown much hieght wise but has lots of little plantlets anyone know why?
Adrienne
In a few more weeks the tiger lotus will send up more shoots to the top of the tank than you can cope with. The CO2 + flourish excel will keep the bba under control but the hair algae will run riot with all the lighting required for the CO2 - at least thats whats happening in my tank. The only good thing is that at the rate the plants go I just take a pair of scissors to them and chop the hair algae out twice a week

land_lubber
Thanks reef. How did you keep them big but keep the kb low?
phoenix44
It is an image dimension restriction, so as long as you put 3-4 images in one post, you won't get that error.
land_lubber
Today I was looking at my tank and saw my female Trillineatus cory was looking pretty fat, I turned away for a minute or two and next thing I knew she was laying eggs on the front glass with the males close behind her doing there thing. I'm undecided if I should scrap them out and try to raise them myself or just let them be food for the rest of the fish. My other tank I had set up for breeding is now occupied as some of you might know.
phoenix44
Raise them! I love those cories!
