Southerrrngirrl
Hubby and I will be visiting Auckland soon. We're quite excited! Any recommendations on what to see and do while there? We've got a little rental car booked so we can travel and we're already planning on going to Tauranga to visit Livingart Wildlife Park as well as the Zoo, Kelly Tarltons and some transport museum thingy near the Auckland Zoo? (Hubbys vague description). What else is good?
firenzenz
HFF Mt Roskill is worth a go- if just to see the Zeb plecs. Not sure what Butterfly creek out by airport is like these days. 40ft african tank, crocodile, and butterfly enclosure. Otherwise a drive out through Waitakeres to west coast is always something I'd say is worth a go. transport museum is MOTAT but main Museum in domain is cool too. David R
The Auckland War Memorial Museum is good for a rainy day, although if its school holidays or a wet weekend it may be busy. it really depends what you're into, although a trip to HFF is a good idea for any fishgeek visiting the city! Gotta let him do his thing I suppose. Hubby will be up for the War Museum probably. He's into photography and space stuff though.

David R
He's into photography and space stuff though. If its a clear night and if its open go to the observatory at one tree hill. Climbing rangitoto is a nice way to spend a day too, if its fine...
Southerrrngirrl
Wow Barrie, generous offer indeed. Is it quite a scenic drive to Coromandel? I just googled it and the majority looks coastal. We have accommodation booked in Auckland for the whole time anyway, which is only 5 nights so don't envisage us staying anywhere else, thanks for your kind offer anyway. And yes we have the Sky Tower on our list of things to do.
