robbert
Is anyone able to give me some information on getting a Dragon from the north to south island, Im flying from Rotorua to Christchurch and thought it wouldnt be too much hassel, but upon ringing air NZ, and telling them I would like to take a Lizard with me (Not a cat or dog much to their surprise), no-one there was really too much help or was awear of what was required, in the end they said $170.30 and a hard plastic cage should do the trick. If anyone knows of an easier way it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

robbert
Thanks for that, have just sent pet bus an email. It was more of a convenience thing, I was heading down there anyway to visit my brother, and he is going to look after when I leave the country soon, so figured I could just take it with me, didn't realise it would be such a hassel, (i'm also taking down 4 guns with me which was easy as pie to sort out) But apparently because its not a cat or dog they were all humdedoo about it. It's going to be in a cage etc, all packaged up just like a cat or dog, so I didn't really see what the big deal was about? Thanks for the replys tho, hopefully I will be able to sort something out. robbert
Thank you for your enquiry Dogs and cats are the only pets permitted to travel accompanied with passenger as checked in baggage. All other pets , insects, lizards will go as unaccompanied cargo. Cost is $170.30 if travelling between islands from the North to South or vice versa. Drop off is one hour prior to departure. Well thats just inconvenient. Pet bus it is.
Caryl
Whenever I have flown with fish or axolotls as hand luggage I have not mentioned it to the airline and never had a problem.
phoenix44
taken from another forum - Illegal. I heard from the animal baggage person at airnz in palmy they found a lizard in someone's handbag and they had to detain the lady and call MAF. MAF was called because she had just returned from AU. They later found out that she collected the lizard from AKL and then took it on the flight from AKL to PN, and was intending to take it on the next flight to Wellington.
