Fish With Hands

Seem awfully similar to a species that i saw diving "penguin island" around Slipper island a couple years ago that (as far as i know) hasn't been ID'ed before, closest i can get is a crested weed fish that isn't quite right. though from its movements and the way it "crawled" through the eklonia/ seaweed using its pelvic and pectoral fins, i am now convinced that it must be a similar species to these.

Anyone want to fund a research party?

Next step from blennies and rock hoppers i guess.

You know when you are diving and the little blighters seem to sit on their pectoral fins and tell you to sod off

Might do lermentov on Queens Birthday.

Wicked dive and would have got some wicked stuff off of ship if it wasnt illegal.

I like swimming the corridors cause you always find something new

and the rudders always put that ol girl in perspective.

I am 6 2 and with arms out stretched and fin tips pointed they are taller and wider than me.

Doubt I will see any red hand fish there tho

What do they mean newly discovered? These fish have been documented since before I was a wee little tikett watching the discovery channel. Maybe they are just referring to the pink one being new. These 'handfish' just look like frogfish which are a type of coastal anglerfish.

Here are some more 'walking fish' :)

That looks tasty! MMM like a gernard.

I remember frog fish on Our World all those years ago. That was a good series.

I think its the same fish as a gernard.

Yeah...the article took the angle on it like "look! fish with hands! we've never seen this before!" when really the scientists were excited to just discover a single new species :)

You don't expect the media to let details like that ruin their story, do you?
