David R
Frazer thats why my tanks are usually plantless...
Fruju
yeah, guess so, thats what your gonna get with cichlids (severums especially +uaru) , prob better to go with wood attached ones like moss, fern and anubias. BTW its an 's' not a 'z' in my name lol
David R
Oops! Plants attached to wood will work with some cichlids, but the uaru will actually nibble on the driftwood! Anything green doesn't stand a chance...
henward
yeah, depth of tank and heigh and swimming space for aro. silver aro or asian aro? depending on what species, silverf really needs much space and probably prefer no wood unless youhave a mega monster tank. if the aro spooks, or attacks another fish and jets in the water, could puncture eye ball in sharp bits of wood. Duncan7
could puncture eye ball in sharp bits of wood. One of my large dats dis this, but healed up perfectly, i removed the wood after it happened...

kiwiplymouth
My 2200x 600x700. 1000L+ inc sump I am far from happy with it and plan to strip it bare and change it to an African tank
Fruju
Nice tank kiwiplymouth Reckon if you switch the substrate, take out the pipes and rearrange the wood (or get new stuff), then add some colour or character with geophagus species, clown loaches, arowana etc = big difference, dont give up on the monsters yet. henward
it really depends on the fish you keep. a 400 litre for me is way to small for the company i keep. but for you it might be ok. whats putting people off large tanks is cost, maintenance, food cost, fish cost. ALL COST related. not sentiment. SO if someone was to say to you....that you woudl not have to fork out the cost - or maintain it, then you would probably do it if you had the space. so..... in saying what i said above, everyone would LOVE to have a big tank, its only a matter of priorities of what you spend your resources on:D 8)
Caryl
For me it isn't the cost - it is having the space to put it! I am hoping to get a 6ft soon but that is as big as I can go
