livingart
a friend from TeKaha turned up 4 days ago with a bucket said he had brought me a feed and pulled out a very large crayfish it had spent 4 hrs on the back of his ute and was still moving slowly i turned it over and found it was a packhorse crayfish said i had just the place to put it walked outside and dropped it in the saltwater pool it sprung back to life and scurried under one of the large rocks and evicted all the spotties missing both of its tentacles, one an old wound and one a new break will be interesting to see how it goes, but so far so good will get a pic up once it has settled down more

bdspider
Packhorses are apparently no good for eating btw. The crustacean and equine types that is.
Duncan7
The bigger crays sometimes are easier to get, my father and friends have all had large crays advance out of caves at them only to be picked up and carried to the surface. The one my dad got just wrapped its legs around his chest and "held on" while he ascended.
Navarre
Biggest I have caught is just under 11 lbs just off cape jackson near where the lermontov is grounded. Some of you have seen photos.
puttputt
Packhorses are apparently no good for eating btw. The crustacean and equine types that is. , nothing but an attempt by some to encourage people to put the big ones back - packhorses taste very nice, just like big snapper. Up to the individuals whether to keep them or not.
