Zev
Why do they leave their legs sticking out of the tunnel?
Aquila
Appart from trying to look revolting, they do it so they can sense vibrations on the web. Why do they leave their legs sticking out of the tunnel?
Carlos & Siran
This guy lives in our terrarium with our frogs, a fact we're a little nervous of as he's about 3 times their size . I've seen these fullas floating on ponds before and he spends a lot of his time under water(he's underwater in the second shot) Do you think he'd consider the frogs as tucker?, or the other way around when they get bigger?. There was two of them but one turned up dead, my guess as they fought for territory and this one was the victor it's hard to tell his scale but he's about 40mms across. livingart
put some young guppiies or water boatmen in there and watch it go fishing
Carlos & Siran
should we be feeding him?, we just assumed he'd eat flies and crickets like the frogs but if he's aquatic do we need to feed him boatmen and stuff like you say?

Insect Direct
Good effort on getting one dude. Any pics of setup? I burried a peace of driftwood with hole in it and i hardly ever see it now. It use to just have its web on the side of the tank and i could see it go down into its web/tunnel. May do a clear tube for a cave next time i redo tank...

Skip™
I'm so jealous! Love the redish-brown of the carapace! I would love a tunnelweb spider as a 'pet'. I've only found one of these once in the auckland region and that was over 10 years ago. Never seen one since!

Skip™
Plenty up here if you want to take a ride I might have to do that. are they poisonous? what happens if you get bit? Not poisonous, in a fatal way (unlike the Sydney funnelweb), but the bite would be uncomfortable and painful.

Or just how to tell the difference, i cant find much online.. pick up your spider and turn it upside down, it may struggle a little be careful not to get bitten as it is painful now seriously i think the males palps usually have bulbs on the end

livingart
be an awesome pet if they were a metre long under the abdomen of tarantulas the females have a slightly raised area and the males it is flat
Insect Direct
i dunno about that, theyre big enough for me i almost let it walk across my hand but thought better of it  mines 30mm despite most sites saying body upto 24/25mm i was given another recently which is a bit smaller. would be fascinating to breed (i cant help myself lol), looks like ive got a couple of females, or atleast no obvious bulbs on palps.
