Hey Matthew, i just got my wee guy on sunday, best pet ever!, anyway back to the topic,

this is a great vid for setting up your viv, when he gets older you may have to get him/her a bigger viv its only a maybe though, in my 4ftx2ftx2ft viv i have a 100w ceramic heat emitter set to 24-25 deg c and two 60w reflector bulbs, your vivs slightly smaller so perhaps 50w reflector bulbs? Oh and don't worry if the wee guy does'nt eat for a couple of days when you get him its just shock, mines a wee pig went straight for his food and water (he drinks from a bowl :D ) another great resource for you to get is The Bearded Dragon Manual it's available on trademe, great reading on all aspects of caring for your dragon with good informative pictures too. I too must thank Livingart, Mystic, and all the others who contributed to the BD care sheet you guys influenced my decision too get my wee guy so FANKIES :hail::hail::hail:

hope this helps

Ryan

well for babys the required temp is 40 degrees in the bascking area. usually this is on a large rock, because at night if you choose to not run lights the rock should hold a high enough heat temp to hold until the morning. in the cooler sides temps should range to about 27-28 degrees

If your tank falls under 18 degrees at night you need to invest in a red reptile bulb to keep temperatures up and to not disterb the sleep patterns of the dragon...

For the bulbs at your size tank i would use a 100 watt bulb over the basking rock/branch (if its to hot simply move it away from the tank until a good temp...

in the other areas of the tank you could use a 50watt bulb...

rember if at night it gets too cold use a red bulb to buff up the temps.

For UV i recomend Sera UV reptile bulbs... my opinion best in the market...

I use a reptile one 10.0 uvb bulb as they are designed for bearded dragons, my reflector bulbs are my basking bulbs i picked them up at a lighting store like $10 a bulb if that. On TM look up (lid with accessories for reptile tanks) this contains all you need you'll just need to wire it, never ever use a red night time bulb with a bearded dragon, unlike other reptiles they can see this light and it keeps them up. i have a large log that leads up to my bulbs and my dragon likes to move around to get his temps right himself i have 95 deg fareheit at the basking spot which if you buy that book is the optimal temperature. Reptilez i've pmed you his details so give him a ring and tell him Ryan reffered you

cheers

It was my impression that bio suppiles pet market was an aside to the bugs they supply for the medical industry amongst others...this may not be the case but that would imply that they have access to medically clean bugs...sterile??

Just a thought....have to find out where we get our leaches and maggots from and that will tell me I suppose?

Nav

pretty sure you will find the medical stuff is a completely different company and they send the maggots to a lab to be sterilized then onto the hospitals etc. I could be wrong though, maybe there is a couple of companies who supply them.
