  1. I got mine through Hollywood fishfarms, it's a fluro tube, and ment to last 6 months longer than normal uvb bulbs hope this helps
  2. Oh how long after they moult to adult form(wings) do they begin to mate?
  3. Cheers for the info repto, unfortunately where i live most of the grass would contain traces of pesticides so im limited in my options there, im going to move out the smaller ones soon and leave the full adult locusts to do their thing. TY for your help
  4. no need to be a smart alec about it repto, they were feed bok choy, cabbage, dark greens daily.
  5. My 250 locusts has been reduced to about 60 subadults in less than a week, got two full adults not mating though, i think the largest locusts have eaten around 100 or more of my small ones grrrrr. Now i need to buy some more
  6. I know people who are breeding high red dragons together and are getting good results same with high yellows, the problem we face here in nz is that we dont have enough of a particular colour dragons to create variation which is why the hatchlings end up dying soon after. IF you can get say 3-4-5 dragons of the colour your wanting breed them, then breed their hatchlings together, then hopefully you will get you desrired colour. Its all a case of genotype and phenotypes. I wish you luck and i dont think you'll have any problems starting a breeding program. Ryan
  7. jeez whats with repto and reptilenut, should i get in a marriage counselor? as LivingArt said this is a public forum for us to talk about our hobby not our differences, if i wanted to watch your pathetic little argument repto & reptilenutt i'd watch jerry springer
  8. Yea overseas they inbreed also known as incrossing to enhance and develop a certain trait then they out cross (mate with a differant male or female) to add genetic variation. That's how you get the sandfire morphs etc etc
  9. My wee guys parents were both high orange with yellow stripes, so hopefully the little guy ends up looking like his mum
  10. One day, One day. Amazing creatures, you cant go wrong with a beardie :bounce: :bounce:
  11. LOL they seem to have a bottomless stomach, They are cool ae pheonix your next pet project maybe? i saw one in a petshop the other day, the only heat/light source was a compact uvb and the WHOLE tank temp was 25 deg celcius i was disgusted, told the staff, they did'nt give a rats ass, GRRRRRRRRRR people these days
  12. Lol mystic he's soundo in his tree doing his IGUANA act again, god he's soooooo cute love him too bits, lets me hold him now
  13. he's about 6 weeks old alan, he loves his salads and water which is quite weird really
  14. Cheers LA and thanks for the info. Oh btw hows odin?
  15. About those plants he seems to think hes a iguana and likes to climb up and sleep on them or just sit there, in The Bearded Dragon Manual they say that they use sand for babies and juvies and never have any impactions so i might put the sand i got him in soon.
  16. Ha fanks mystic, hes just had/having a shed. You should of seen him when his 250 locusts arrived, then you should've seen my mums face when she drank her coffee and found one in the bottom of the cup
  17. Hey guys this is my wee bubba, got him on sunday and i absolutely adore him. One of his siblings accidently chomped his tail at the very very tip  but its only 3,4mm off his tail so im not too worried. His tail also has some criss-cross patterns on his tail which is different and cool. He loves his locusts and anything put n front of him . He also loves to bask at the tip of his log.
  18. I use a reptile one 10.0 uvb bulb as they are designed for bearded dragons, my reflector bulbs are my basking bulbs i picked them up at a lighting store like $10 a bulb if that. On TM look up (lid with accessories for reptile tanks) this contains all you need you'll just need to wire it, never ever use a red night time bulb with a bearded dragon, unlike other reptiles they can see this light and it keeps them up. i have a large log that leads up to my bulbs and my dragon likes to move around to get his temps right himself i have 95 deg fareheit at the basking spot which if you buy that book is the optimal temperature. Reptilez i've pmed you his details so give him a ring and tell him Ryan reffered you cheers Ryan
  19. Oh if you need anything for your lizard including that book go on a certain auction site and look up the member exoticpets they own exotic pet supplies, great people and very good prices, oh they also breed BD'S i got mine from them, the parents are both very orange with hints of yellow. let me know if you want his details.
  20. Hey Matthew, i just got my wee guy on sunday, best pet ever!, anyway back to the topic, this is a great vid for setting up your viv, when he gets older you may have to get him/her a bigger viv its only a maybe though, in my 4ftx2ftx2ft viv i have a 100w ceramic heat emitter set to 24-25 deg c and two 60w reflector bulbs, your vivs slightly smaller so perhaps 50w reflector bulbs? Oh and don't worry if the wee guy does'nt eat for a couple of days when you get him its just shock, mines a wee pig went straight for his food and water (he drinks from a bowl ) another great resource for you to get is The Bearded Dragon Manual it's available on trademe, great reading on all aspects of caring for your dragon with good informative pictures too. I too must thank Livingart, Mystic, and all the others who contributed to the BD care sheet you guys influenced my decision too get my wee guy so FANKIES hope this helps Ryan
