SamH
Glosso and dwarf Eleocharis do well.
Chogs
Dwarf sag, ricca and java moss need to be wighted down with rock or tied down with a line of some sort
phoenix44
dwarf sag (subulata) grows to 2ft in length and is pretty useless as a carpet. It needs no weighting down, as it spreads runners with a dense network.
alanmin4304
I have not come accross it. Sagittaria microfolia does not grow tall like subulata and needs less light than most of the other foreground plants like glosso and the various types of E. tenellus, hairgrass etc.
cesarz
just wondering if this plant is availible In NZ Yes it is in NZ, but availability will be nil. I would try Glossostigma cleisanthum it is narrower than elatinoides and is also a native. I got mine from NIWA.

cesarz
Oh by the way I bought the HC "Cuba" from HFF but they did not know what it was, but mine has since died. They had it as a stem plant instead of a crawling carpet plant because of weak lighting. A bigger HC called ümbrosum"is available in the auction site. It is a bigger version of "Cuba" and it also carpets like "Cuba" . http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 416725.htm
foamy
Anyone got a luck on the availability? thx
Joe
Hemianthus umbrosum isn't a true carpeting plant, and it grows really bushy. If you want to use it as a carpet plant, it will require some maintainance to keep it short.
alanmin4304
All of the carpting plants will grow up to the light if it is not strong enough. If carpets when emersed then it will do so when submersed if there is sufficient light.
foamy
So do Hemianthus callitrichoides "Cuba'' available in NZ? phone some fish shop said none available.
alanmin4304
H. umrosum is usually sold as callitrichoides, mislabeled and emersed in the nursery shops
