Wok
Poll is really for Fresh Water Tanks I like using canister filters cause they are easy to maintain and clean and easy to hide. I've found Fluvals to be very reliable as well.
chimera
you should make note that this is for freshwater only otherwise it will make it biased (most saltwater will say "protein skimmer" and therefore tick "other")
Caryl
I can't vote unless I do so multiple times as I have all the filters mentioned
Midas
The same here Caryl. We have all four types too.
breakaway
You forgot to include internal filters
catfish_dude
i have 2 canister filters and 3 internals. the canisters are better though
Lucid
I have 2 hang on, 1 internal and 1 air driven filter( not ug tho) and would like to get hold of a cannister. B
breakaway
i have 2 canister filters and 3 internals. the canisters are better though Yep, they sure are, but you cant stick a Canister filter in a 2 foot tank, unless you are trying to create a whirlpool
Ira
Depends a LOT on the cannister filter. My wimpy POS eheim barely trickles in my 2ft, I have to have an airstone running in it or the fish would suffocate. But my 404 puts a very nice amount of flow in it. catfish_dude
lol but my hillstreams love my 3 internal filters that create a whirlpool in my 2ft  those 3 internals have a bigger turnover rate than my canisters combined
CatBrat
I have 1x canister, 6x internals, 1x HOB, and 1x DIY Sump running in my tanks at the moment. I think the canisters are the best. Cheers, CatBrat.
Warren
I only use trickle filters with pleated cartridge prefilters. I also only have med size tanks (600-1200L).
Midas
Where do you get your pleated cartridges from?
Warren
Reamans pump supplies. You can get them from pools shops but Reamans is a wholesaler. You'll need to be a trade customer to buy from them though. They are next door to where I work so I get a good price.
Caryl
I like your "I only have medium sized tanks 600 - 1200L". The trademe sales offering LARGE TANK! which turns out to be 60cm x 30 x 30 make me laugh. Will want to discuss filters, and glass thickness, with you when you arrive Warren
suphew
FYI bunning's in Wlg are selling pleated carts, seem cheap to me but I don't know what wholesale prices are like. 4 foot tank with 2 x 204's, but the best filter........ tons of plants! Also got 3 HOB unused, + some internal (can't remeber how many 2-3?) unused.

Wok
you can adjust the flow by just turning the valves on the hose connectors. that would stop the whirlpool effect.
