Floater
I hear using cotton is a good idea as it eventually dissolves... is there any risk to the fish? Leeching dyes?
phoenix44
no major risk in that regard. sometimes silly fish that have no brains like bristle noses insist on getting stuck in it. fishing line is better.
N1CK
no risk, it also doesn't dissolve it just rots away, by the time that it does rot the java fern should have attached itself

How do they get stuck in cotton and not fishing line? no risk, it also doesn't dissolve it just rots away, by the time that it does rot the java fern should have attached itself Thanks
phoenix44
its more flimsy, so fish can get stuck in it. personally, i would not worry.
livingart
fishing line doesn't get tangled in bristles as well as cotton does
Heir
Did someone say Java Fern!? Haha. Well, I originally attached this ONE SMALL FERN using fishing line, one piece fell off and then attached itself to the rock next to it and as you can see they all have had a little bit of a population explosion.... Heir
That is healthy plant. What light and anything else special are you doing? Nothing special. The hood has 3 x 30watt bulbs.. I only run two. Occasionally when I can be bothered I turn on my Co2 but that's not very often and I doubt that has anything to do with it being healthy as I haven't used Co2 since I moved house 5 months ago... hmmm No products go in the water ever as we're on spring water so it's not needed... They just grow =)
