Zev
I have this growing in a bucket outside, acquired it from my sister-in-law's bathtub fishtank. Any ideas?
Caryl
Grant says it is a young triffid and be careful to wear glasses when you are near it I sent the pics to my dad (a gardener) and he has no idea what it is. It is very pretty though isn't it? I gather the majority of the plant is underwater with just a few stems growing emersed?
Zev
Don't know what is underneath - Grant recons a large bulb and the ability to move and a stinging tongue thingy, then? Perhaps I had better don some goggles and have a poke around in the bottom of the bucket - it is only 22l

Zev
Dang, was hoping it was something different! Want some for your 'new project' Jim? Now to find out which Crypt the triffid is...
alanmin4304
Rotala grows easily in a glasshouse as a potplant but would need a reasonable leval of artificial light if that was what you were using. You would have to keep trimming it or it will grow into a tangled mess.

Zev
Ummm, you are not going to be impressed... It is in Daltons Aquatic Mix, light is a 75w Philips Softone Warm Daylight (common old BC lamp in a clip on desk lamp) Water is at 23deg, pH somewhere between 8 and 8.5 on a JBL test kit.
