axokeeper
I have two axos and am considering getting some fish. There tank is tall with plenty of room for a couple of goldfish, but how likely are my guys to eat any new additions? And if they do eat them (was thinking comets) will it hurt them (obviously it will hurt the fish, was meaning the axos ). I do know the "if in doubt, dont" rule, but was wondering if others have fish and axos living happily? Like when they say rabbits and guinea pigs shouldnt live together, yet they can and do... Insect Direct
can but be prepared for fish disapearing acts axies are good hunters and if hungry anything that moves should watch out
axokeeper
Thanks. Would I be best to go for a Pleco or the comets?
dantedobe
Neither, the goldfish if don't get eaten would nibble on the axolotls gills and the pleco would not like the cold water. Just get another tank!
Caryl
and comets are best in a pond.

diver21
i put a dannio into my brother in laws tank as a feeder about 2 months ago, and its still there
darkfur
my understanding is that the amount of waste generated makes it kind of tough on the axies then again I seem to remember Napier aquarium having a huge axie/goldie setup
spoon
i kept axies with large southern bell frogs but frogs will require more than just a fish tank

Nymox
The way I see things is.... Bigger fish wont fit in the axo's mouth but that doesnt mean it wont try, and could end up hurting itself. They also can peck at the axo's gils. And they generate more waste that might make water conditions a bit hard on the axo. Smaller fish should be considered feeders when putting them in and losses expected. Try to stay clear of fish with sharp spines and anything that might hurt the axo.
