Breeding mountain minnows

I had a tank with water and filter and plants. Added fish. Waited a while. Found fry.

They are not fussy and don't need anything special. One of our members bred them in tropical and cold and found he had more success with them in warmer water but I found the opposite :-?

Have a jungle tank

Lots of plants like Indian Fern, Java moss etc.

Even better is to give the tank a deliberate case of green water. Fry feed on it ans survival rate is better.

As Caryl said, They are not fussy at all. They usually dont eat the fry if kept well fed. But if you have lots of plants it give fry places to hide.

Pretty much as supasi said.

but an even simpler method is.

1 x Tank

1 x HOB Filter (Hang On Back)

3 x Indian fern plants. (can be left floating)

Some Gravel for the bottom of the tank.

Method

Add gravel to bottom of tank

fill tank with water

Get Filter going

Place Indian Fern on top of water

Add Fish.

Sit Back and wait for fry.

.... Oh and feed fish on a regular basis.

Done.

note:

If you see green water, leave it. The fry will love you for it, and the indian fern will use up the nutrients that make the water green as they grow so you will have clear water soon enough

You can place the tank on a window sill as well.

No need to do water changes either.

Just rinse the filter media when you notice the flow has decreased considerably.

I wonder how many WCMM will be registered on the breeding register this year?

Breeding fish is fun. Just wish I bothered to register all the fish I have already bred.

There really has not been that many WCMM being registered for breeding.

As Caryl has said, GBA's seem to have a lot of registrations.
