Insect Direct
Is it ok to mix the 2 species and will they breed?
alanmin4304
I don't think they will interbreed as the smaller ones will get eaten ( They are pretty good at eating their own siblings)
livingart
they have different croaks also but i think can interbreed
broms2
in my experience the Southerns will eat anything smaller than them including younger southerns, I have not had this problem with green and goldens or whistlers, may depend on size of enclosure. Insect Direct
came across a nice little southern frog on the road near beach last night, i think (got bumps on back). pondering whether to put in with the 3 litoria aurea ive got which are slightly bigger. Or if on its own would be best for now. enclosure is about 1200x380x380
repto
out for spot of frog napping mincie?
alanmin4304
My aurea that I grew from tadpoles were pretty good at trying to eat their siblings when they were almost the same size. I rescued a couple that were three quarters swallowed and only their feet sticking out. I would put all frogs in the same catagory as politicians---don't trust any of them. At least frogs don't sell second hand cars though.
snake kid
A good rule of thumb I learn't from one of the reptile keepers at willow bank is that if the frog you want to keep with the others is 3/4 of the size of the other frog or bigger you should be fine.
