SamH
One question before "bird" arrives... The doors on his cage are slide up and I've read that they can open these. What precautions do I need to take to prevent an escape? Also, name suggestions?
livingart
put a clothes peg on them his wing is clipped so if he gets out he won't fly away or hit windows once you have him trained you can let his wing grow back but remember he can fly out an open window or door

SamH
Haha! Budgie arrived just after 6pm tonight. Settling in well, very still. He hopped away from my finger but he eventually jumped on. He sat on my for a bit then went exploring around the lounge, he like under the aquarium cabinet. Cat very interested but told off. He sneezed three times but seems okay, the missing toe doesn't seem to hinder him either. Here's a few pics (he's going to make a great model):
phoenix44
aww. he is so little. does he bite?
SamH
He doesn't seem that little compared to the Zebby's. He bit me once or twice (didn't hurt) when I picked him up and held him. When he tries to get off my finger he bites for more grip. Sweetest little Budgie though. Any name ideas? I'm super stuck.

bedazzled
awww he is so cute He looks a lot like the budgie we got for our grandson, he named it rainbow But... If he was my budgie I would name him after one of the characters from ice age cos of the blue and white colouration. so maybe manny or scrat lol
SamH
My cat is a big useless fluff ball  She caught a bird once but didn't kill it and catches crickets once or twice a month. Still, we are very strict about the cat, she can't be with the bird at all. Pushy you say? How pushy? Yeah, Mum suggested "Ice" but I thaught it was a bit plain. livingart
sadly i have heard that said about cats before, no matter how lazy they still have instincts and natural responses short name no more than 2 syllables is easier for him to learn

Cricketman
we had an african grey in SA called iccarus, cos he escaped when my parents went to collect him mum: "are his wings clipped?" breeder: " no, no need, he is still too young to fly" next second phoom! out the door on a 2 day escapade around George, South Africa. eventually caught him when he returned to the farm for some food. good thing we didnt have to leave to go back to JHB for another week! SamH
Was doing the dishes this morning (your welcome mum), and decided to sit the budgie up in front of me. I noticed that the BUBBLES where white and the BUDGIE was white. Then I clicked and came up with a name for him.
