ryanjury
Can you get a better pic? Looks sorta bumblebeeish to me too, but that blue? And almost has an afra head.. Hard to tell with the pic on that angle and the rest of the body out of focus..
Zev
lol, can just visualise LA now - stick hand in tank - rotate fish to side on view - point index finger at fish and say 'stay' - dry hand and pick up camera to take picture.

livingart
i bred it, well my fish bred it and a few siblings out of about 40 fry 11 had the blue colouration to varying degrees that was the best

smidey
so what were the fish that could possibly mixed? What female held & what males were there?
livingart
basically take your pick and a few not in photo any pseudotropheus sp could make up the combination i am leaning to red shoulder x bumblebee or royal blue x bumblebee
ryanjury
My guess from the head (which looks zebra to me) and body barring which looks kinda bumblebeeish would be some sort of zebra x bumblebee.. In this situation there is no real way to tell as the hybrids can throw any way they please. It is the usual story if you want pure fish breed in species only tanks Obviously Mark wasn't intentionally breeding these and has disposed of them so there is no problem. firenzenz
Now in the catfish section that fish would probably have its own L# by now. I wonder LA if you are subtley making a point in this thread.
phoenix44
well. i would have kept the fish as a display and not bred from it, unless i wanted them in my tank. probably not best to give them to just any one incase it makes its way back to public hands. oh well.

I wonder LA if you are subtley making a point in this thread. it has a L number LA00 no firenzenz nothing subtle or maybe just a twisted sense of humor, i was quite taken with the fishes look but have too many bumblebees in the big tank and didn't want anyone selling it on because some of the fry ended up looking like this i have fed out them all in a closed systen like a tank sperm maybe able to circulate from stray males in the mix i tend to feel that some species and subspecies come from natural crosses that then go on to establish themselves i breed other species in seperate tanks
